Welcome to my kitchen!
I’m Haim and my goal is very simple. It’s to change the way you think about eating healthy. Food that is good for you doesn’t have to taste awful. Okay, possibly a bit harsh, but there does tend to be a compromise on taste when trying to consume food that won’t make you pierce an extra notch on your belt. Typically, when you think about healthy food, it seems as if you are choosing between taste and nutrition. But it doesn’t have to be like that. Eating healthy can still mean that you love what you eat and look forward to every meal. A nutrient-filled diet doesn’t have to be boring.
My recipes will show how nutrition, speed, and of course taste can come together to transform how you cook at home. You can continue to enjoy the food you love and still feel good about the food you eat. And because time seems to always get away from us, most of these dishes can be completed in less than 30 minutes.
A couple of things before we get into the recipes…
First, this is not about ‘diet’ food. I am not promoting a 0-calorie diet, because that is actually boring. Within my recipes I try to substitute whole grains, load up on fruits and vegetables, minimize refined sugars and salt, incorporate ‘superfoods’, and still reduce the wrong kinds of calories wherever possible.
Second, it is still okay to bite into a decadent chocolate cake! I don’t intend on stopping that and neither should you. Knowing that most of my meals are packed with nutrition gives me the tranquility to be able to indulge in a treat once in a while. We’ve all heard that it’s about balance, except in this case taste is on both sides of the equation. I don’t think you need to give one up to gain from another. Food is part of life (coincidently also the meaning of my name), and it should be something you always look forward to.
So join me on this culinary journey to refine home cooking. Here’s to healthy food, my way.
